Chalchiuhtlicue
€3,50
This model belongs to a sculpture of Chalchiuhtlicue, goddess of terrestrial waters associated with agriculture and fertility. Its double-band headdress, earmuffs, necklace and bracelets made of chalchihuites stand out, as well as its quechquémitl with wavy edges. It was found half-buried around the Plaza de la Luna and in 1888 it was moved to Mexico City by the archaeologist Batres. Due to its size and enormous weight (16.3 tons), the sculpture waited 5 months outside the old museum before entering the Monolith Gallery. This sculpture was photogrammetrized by Artmonite at the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City during the summer of 2024.
