Capital from the Cloister of Sta María de Aguilar de Campoo – Pantocrator

€3,50

This model belongs to a capital featuring a Pantocrator from the cloister of the monastery of Santa María la Real in Aguilar de Campoo.. It dates back to the 12th century and is a remarkable example of Spanish Romanesque art, currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. The piece depicts Christ in Majesty, enclosed in a mandorla held by two angels. Christ holds a book in his left hand and raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing. The mandorla is decorated with palmettes and trephine perforations. The sides of the capital depict the apostles. This model was photogrammetrically captured by Artmonite during a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid in 2025.
