Offering Lady (forgery)

This model was obtained from a forgery of a Offering Lady that is on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. It is an imitation of the sculptures found at the Sanctuary of Cerro de los Santos (Montealegre del Castillo, province of Albacete). The discovery of these sculptures led to a series of forgeries reported in the early 20th century. Authentic pieces were re-carved and new ones were created with striking astral or religious additions and inscriptions, along with others inspired by the Egyptian world. This forgery, which imitates Iberian sculptures, was made in the 19th century. The model was photogrammetrized by Artmonite during a visit to Madrid in 2025.
