Huasteca Figure

This model was obtained from a Huastec figure found in the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Since the classical and post-classical periods, the Huastecs expressed religious ideas in stone sculptures, for example the representations of women as generators of life, those of the elders with a planting stick as those who deposited the seed or the adolescent who symbolized the plant that sustained life. It is the representation of their worldview, their deities, characters, rites and beliefs. Most of the sculptures are facing forward, the women with their arms on their ribs or belly while the male figures have one arm on their ribs and the other arm extended. The sculpture was photogrammetrized by Artmonite during a trip to Mexico in 2024.
