Warrior from the Llano de la Consolación
€4,00
This model comes from a sculpture found at the Llano de la Consolación (Montealegre del Castillo, Albacete). In this important necropolis, various test pits were carried out starting in 1880, and excavations took place between 1946 and 1949. Along with other materials, stone sculptures were discovered, such as this male head acquired by Arthur Engel for the Louvre Museum in 1891. This 5th-century BC work is notable for the quality of its execution, style, and details. The head is covered by a cap, possibly made of leather, which would have served to hold a metal helmet in place, allowing the figure to be identified as a warrior. The piece is currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid on temporary loan from the Louvre Museum, and it was photogrammetrically documented by Artmonite during a visit to Madrid in 2025.
