Huehueteotl

This model belongs to a sculpture of Huehueteotl, the Mexican deity of fire. In Teotihuacan culture he was represented as a wrinkled, toothless and hunched old man with a huge brazier on his back. This iconography is what we can find in this sculpture that was photogrammetrized by Artmonite during a visit to Mexico in 2024 at the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. This work made of clay returned to the Museum in 2022 after years of restoration. The sculpture was found more than 80 years ago in Cerro de las Mesas (Veracruz).
