Iósifovich Shapiro (Yakov) – Cosmos (Fragmento)
€4,00
This model is derived from the «Cosmos»sculptural ensemble, located in the Cosmonauts’ Square in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), next to the Kosmonavtlar metro station. The ensemble was inaugurated in 1984, coinciding with the construction of the station. The work was created by the sculptor Yakov Iosifovich Shapiro, together with architects Yuri Miroshnichenko and R. Salimov. The monument represents humanity’s dream of reaching the stars and conquering outer space. This model reproduces a fragment of the sculptural ensemble featuring Sergei Korolev, the chief designer of the Soviet space program, and Yuri Gagarin, the first human to travel into space, on April 12, 1961, aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft. The depiction of Korolev and Gagarin together has a particular significance: Korolev symbolizes the science and engineering that made space travel possible, while Gagarin represents the human being who ultimately made that dream a reality. «Cosmos» ultimately symbolizes humanity’s long journey from observing the stars to reaching outer space. This model was acquired by Artmonite through photogrammetry during a trip to Tashkent in 2026.
