Virgin and Child – Cathedral Museum of Santiago de Compostela
€4,00
This model was obtained from a Romanesque carving of a Virgin and Child, located in the Cathedral Museum of Santiago de Compostela. The Romanesque iconography of the Virgin and Child is characterized by a marked frontality and a rigid composition that emphasizes the hieratic nature of the figure. The Virgin appears as Sedes Sapientiae, the “Throne of Wisdom,” holding the Child, symbolizing her role as divine mediator. The Child, closer to a small adult than to an infant, often holds a book or makes a gesture of blessing, as in this case. This model was photogrammetrized by Artmonite during a visit to Santiago de Compostela in 2025.
