Hathor (Louvre)
Free
This model comes from a Hathoric column, so called because its capital depicts the goddess Hathor. This goddess is generally represented as a woman with the ears or head of a cow, lyriform horns and a solar disk. Her appearance is maternal and she is also a personification of the night sky. She represented the cow that had given birth to the world and everything contained in it, which nourishes beings and the dead to whom she offers bread and water after their death. Its origin seems to date back to predynastic times. The original of this sculpture is in the Louvre Museum in Paris. It is made of limestone and its dimensions are 52 cm high, 46 cm wide and 11 cm deep. The sculpture dates from the Ptolemaic Period.
