The art of the ancient Egyptian civilization is about 5000 years old. It emerged in ancient Egypt with a sacred function and its canon remained almost unchanged for 3,000 years, except for a brief period during the time of the pharaoh Amenophis. It is characterized by its dependence on the rhythms of nature, its strict rules of stylized and unnaturalistic representation and the search for the perfection of its norms above beauty. Egyptian sculpture was frontal and rigid and the characters were generally represented in two positions: standing with the left leg forward or sitting. This discipline manifested itself mainly in the typologies of round sculpture and reliefs. The predominant material was stone, which was polychrome to enhance the realistic aspect of the works. Both in sculpture and in other disciplines, the production of images that acted as a support for the ka stands out. Ka was a kind of soul or part of the vital force of the universe that remained after death if it had a body in which to manifest itself.
