Senenmut Kneeling with Sistrum

The sculpture "Senenmut Kneeling with Sistrum" depicts the prominent architect and engineer of ancient Egypt, Senenmut, who lived during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut in the 18th Dynasty. Senenmut is credited with numerous architectural contributions, including the Temple of Deir el-Bahari in Thebes, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut. In the sculpture, Senenmut is depicted kneeling while holding a sistrum, a musical and ritual instrument associated with the goddess Hathor, whose face is depicted on the front of the sistrum. This artwork is part of the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
