Marillion – Script for a Jester’s Tear

This model has been created based on the cover of the album Script for a Jester’s Tear by the British band Marillion. This work was released in 1983 as their studio debut, reaching number 7 on the UK charts and establishing itself as a key piece in the neo-progressive movement. Recorded at the Marquee Studios in London and produced by Nick Tauber, the album features six extended compositions characterized by complex structures, introspective lyrics, and the vocal performance of Fish. It is also the only album by the band to feature drummer Mick Pointer. Its cover was designed by the illustrator Mark Wilkinson and depicts a scene in which a jester appears in a room writing a manuscript while holding a violin on his shoulder. The richness of color and the style place the work within the visual tradition of progressive rock, where album covers function as conceptual extensions of the music.
