This work by Nikolai Silis (1928-2018) is a portrait of Pablo Picasso, one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century and creator of cubism.
Nikolai Silis created in 1954, together with Vladimir Lemport and Vadim Sidur, the art group "LESS", whose activities continued until 1968. The sculptors made a series of monumental works for social and cultural buildings, park sculptures, decorative forms and reliefs on building interiors. In total, about 50 objects were decorated. Since 1956 Nikolai Silis became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists actively participating in all-USSR, regional and international exhibitions, as well as Russian and foreign private galleries. Many of the sculptor's works were acquired and donated to state museums and private collections. The work in question belongs to the funds of the State Tretyakov Gallery in the New Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, Russia.
