Kansas – Kansas
€4,00
This model has been based on the cover artwork of the debut self-titled album by the American band Kansas, released in March 1974. At a time when progressive rock was dominated by British groups, Kansas brought a different vision: a blend of hard rock, boogie, folk, and complex progressive structures enriched by Robby Steinhardt’s distinctive violin. The album already displayed many of the characteristics that would later make the band one of the most important acts in American rock. Musically, the record alternates straightforward songs such as “Can I Tell You” with long, epic compositions like “Aperçu” and “Death of Mother Nature Suite,” where progressive influences are combined with a distinctly American energy. Although it was not a major commercial success upon release, it laid the groundwork for later albums such as Leftoverture and Point of Know Return, which would propel the band to stardom. The cover image was not created specifically for the album. Instead, it was taken from a section of Tragic Prelude, a famous mural painted by John Steuart Curry in the Kansas State Capitol. The artwork depicts abolitionist John Brown, a key historical figure in the fight against slavery in the United States. In the painting, he stands upright with a Bible in one hand and a rifle in the other, while scenes of conflict and destruction unfold around him.
